Children in Need of Support

KidsConnect Program

For children who have physical, medical, psychiatric, developmental and learning needs, we provide programs designed to offer recreational, educational, and social opportunities. The programs include:

KidsConnect Summer Camp
Families Connect

Most of these programs are offered at a very nominal fee.

KidsConnect Summer Camp

We are holding a two week therapeutic day camp that offers children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (from age five through transitional age) a variety of intellectually stimulating, challenging, and creative activities designed to strengthen social skills, create friendships, and build self-confidence. Staff includes special education teachers, a registered nurse, and trained adult aides who are able to provide support and assistance that enrich the camp experience. A teen leadership training component of KidsConnect, MIT (Mentors in Training) offers youth ages 13-21 opportunities for personal growth. The camp is in session while most other summer programs are not operating (for two weeks at the end of the summer).  Camp Respite is funded through the Home and Community Based Services Waiver (HCBS) and payment is billed to Medicaid.  Partial scholarships will be available for those not eligible. For more information, including an application packet, please email children@jfsorange.org or call 845-341-1173, x 301.

Families Connect

Families with children with special needs are invited for monthly trips, outings, and activities. These family activities provide social opportunities for the entire family to connect and participate in educational and recreational activities like snow tubing, farm visits, gymnastics and children’s theatre.
