Organization of the Year Kiwanis Club of Minisink Valley

The Kiwanis Club of Minisink Valley has been proudly serving the community since 1957. At present, its 59 members represent a cross section of the Minisink Community.

Kiwanians are volunteers changing the world through service to children and communities. Kiwanis members help shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, mentor the disadvantaged, and care for the sick. They develop youth as leaders, build playgrounds, raise funds for pediatric research, and much more.

For the past 12 years, the Club has given generously to our Faith in Action program in many ways. Helping adults with disabilities - including frail adults - members provide much-needed escorted rides to medical appointments including dialysis treatment, assist with household chores and provide grocery shopping. They quickly respond when a neighbor in need is brought to their attention. For instance, they voluntarily built a ramp for a mother and daughter who are both in wheelchairs, and helped a woman of limited means move her furniture into senior housing. On many occasions they moved donated furniture into the homes of those in need.
