Position: Coordinator of Volunteers (20 hrs/wk)
Program Description
The Friendly Visitor program connects volunteers with adults who have disabilities and limited access to the community. Volunteers provide transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping, assistance with light household chores, friendly visits, and telephone reassurance. Here for You is a partnership with St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital to provide all of these services to Orange County patients being treated there for cancer in the outpatient center.
Qualifications
-Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent professional experience
-Strong abilities in networking and public speaking
-Good writing skills
-Competent with basic computer skills and willing to learn more
-Familiar with Newburgh area
-Must have car for meetings and home visits
-Very organized and comfortable overseeing others
-Warm, engaging manner on the phone and in person
-Strong desire to help those with disabilities or illness
-Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred but this is not required
Responsibilities
-Recruit volunteers
-Interview, screen, train and supervise volunteers
-Make connections within the community to publicize program
-Refer clients to local community services
-Conduct at-home assessments of potential clients
-Match people in need with volunteers
-Conduct satisfaction surveys
-Assist agency in addressing emerging needs
-Other projects as needed
